Forty-three years ago today, my mom and dad were married in a little chapel in Reno, Nevada.
When my dad died a year and a half ago, they'd been married 41 years.
People don't often stay married that long anymore. Their marriage was a testament to strongly held beliefs, patience and determination.
My parents worked very hard for everything they had — including their marriage.
Of course, it's a bittersweet day now that my dad's gone, but still one that deserves to be remembered and celebrated.
